NO RAISE FOR SENIORS CITIZENS!!!

EDITORial REview : By JamericanMan

This came to my attention from an article in Freerisa Newsletter and I was appalled and disappointed to read this.

Seniors Citizens the majority of whom have made this Country what it is Today, by working hard and unlike people Today, they made the necessary sacrifices to keep the good ship USA afloat and sailing smoothly and now that many are not able to fend for themselves anymore this is how our gratitude is shown.

Many of these Seniors worked hard all their lives doing the right things, keeping the USA on top of the heap, for this reward?

Many of them are in Nursing homes, Senior Apts, etc, some are incapacitated, in wheel chairs, bed ridden etc.

They have no means of generating extra income to match the constantly rising Inflation Rate to whose pain they too are subjected.

It is a shame indeed that this Nation that use to pride itself on taking care of the under-privilaged of this World is now "shooting" its wounded.

They may be Seniors, Veterans and People with disabilities but they are still Citizens and it our responibility to make certain they are taken care of before all others.

Shame on the Government , shame on the Social Security Administration.

This is pretty close to home for me as my Mom who is 80 y.o worked until she was in her late 70's, I know how hard she worked down through the years.

Today if not for her children it would be extremely difficult  for her to make it.

Nearly 54 million retirees and other Americans won't see an increase in their monthly retirement checks. It is the first time in 35 years there have been back to back years when benefits did not increase.

These normally automatic increases are tied to the Consumer Price Index(CPI) and the recent announcement came moments after the Labor Department released CPI figures for the third quarter which showed prices this year were 1.5 percent higher than a year ago.

While many segments of the population benefited from the Obama administration's stimulus plans, older Americans are feeling the pinch of the weak economy, a Washington Post report said.

"Older Americans need relief, not cuts to Social Security to reduce a deficit they didn't cause"

President Obama will renew his call for a $250 Economic Recovery Payment to veterans, seniors and people with disabilities, so says the White House.

Last year, 56 million people benefited from the first Economic Recovery Payment, including about 50 million Social Security beneficiaries..

The lack of a cost-of-living adjustment affects several groups of people in addition to the nation's 38 million retirees 65 and older.

They include family members of workers who died prematurely and people who qualify for Social Security disability payments.

The typical retiree receives a Social Security payment of about $1,200 per month, highrollers :-|

Come on President Obama and your Merry Men lets get this thing fixed, lets get this wrong righted and get these folks the help they deserve.
